About The Club
The Australian National University Boat Club is located on Sullivan’s Creek, inside the University campus, and 200 metres upstream from Lake Burley Griffin.
Formed in 1964, it is the Australian Capital Territory’s oldest rowing club. It has established itself as one of the most successful clubs belonging to the ANU Sport and Recreation Association. In 2008 the Boat Club was awarded ANU Club of the Year.
The Club’s primary purpose is to foster rowing for the benefit of the University community. It caters to all standards of rower from beginner to elite. The Club is ideal for those who are keen to further their rowing career, for those who crave a casual paddle, or those who are keen to try something new.
The Club has a proud history of competition, having produced national champions and representatives, as well as champions in intervarsity and state competition. Highlights on the Club’s competition calendar are the Australian University Games and the Disher Cup, an annual competition between crews from ANU, the Australian Defence Force Academy and the Royal Military College Duntroon.
